The pupils in Vikingaåsens skola 3rd and 5th grade proudly present their entry to Schoolovision 2017:
You can do it too!
We live in the Åland Islands, a beautiful archipelago situated midway between Sweden and Finland. Åland is an autonomous, demilitarized (no military allowed) and Swedish-speaking region in Finland. Åland has 29 000 inhabitants, and 11 000 of them live in the only town, Mariehamn. Åland has its very own flag.
The music to our song was composed especially for this occasion by our music teacher Fredrik Erlandsson. The lyrics were written by all the pupils in 5th grade. It partly tells about Åland and the importance of the sea, partly about how you can do everything and if you don’t succeed at once – just keep on trying!
We hope you’ll enjoy watching our video as much as we enjoyed making it!
Verse 1
På Åland har vi hav och strand, och vi vet att det är vårt land, när vi åker från hamn till hamn.
Öar har vi många av, dom är spridda på vårt hav, färjorna åker fram och tillbaks.
Refrain 1
Here´s what we like to do – dance and sing – you can do it too!
Here´s what we like to do – kick a ball – you can do it too!
Here´s what we like to do – ride a bike – you can do it too!
Here´s what we like to do – rabbit jump – just keep on trying!
Verse 2
The Åland Islands are between Finland and Sweden and it seems, like they are floating in the sea.
People are coming from all around, you can hear it in the sound, this is a peaceful place to be.
Refrain 2
Here´s what we like to do – swim and dive – you can do it too!
Here´s what we like to do – jump around – you can do it too!
Here´s what we like to do – play some games – you can do it too!
Here´s what we like to do – catch a fish – just keep on trying!
Refrain 3
Here´s what we like to do- å-e-å- you can do it too!
- Just keep on trying!
I really love this entry!
ReplyDeleteThe light and the colours are so vivid, and the song is catchy. It makes me wish it was July when I will be back in Finland!
Great footage of the islands, the ferries and the children! Well done and good luck from Scotland!
I also meant to add that seeing the wrapped up kids in this video provides such a contrast (and shows the vast spread of our project) when you compare this footage to the kids playing in the sea in the Spanish entry.
ReplyDeleteLovely message...you can do it too! Never give up! Keep on trying!
